What Fencing Accessories do I need?
Fence Posts
If your panels are tangled between cracked, bent, or wonky posts, they will look dated. Newer posts will not only improve the structural integrity and strength of your fencing run, but they will also look better than those that were in place 20 years ago.
Concrete and wooden are the most common types of fence posts.
Concrete Fence Posts
- Concrete fence posts are increasingly in demand. They're strong and durable and don't deteriorate naturally. Concrete posts are simple to install and slide into the h-slots.
Wooden Fence Posts
- Wooden fence posts are the more traditional option. Many wooden posts can be pressure treated and are guaranteed against rot and fungal decay for at least 15 years. They can be used in conjunction with wooden panels to create a natural, seamless garden boundary.
Both options are excellent and will work well.
Fence Post Brackets
Fence post brackets or clips are not necessary if you opt for h-slotted posts. You will need either u-brackets or l-clips to attach panels to standard wooden fencing posts. Both work well, so it doesn't matter which one you use. You will need four brackets/clips per panel, one on each side and one at the bottom.
Fence Post Spikes and Bases
It is usually a tedious task to install fence posts. Before the post can be installed, a 2ft hole must first be dug. Then, the gaps should be filled with postcrete. The fence post spikes make it much easier. Once the post is secured, the spike slides into place and acts as an anchor to keep the posts upright and sturdy.
Fence bases are used to mount fence posts on solid surfaces such as concrete slabs. The base is used to hold the post in place and can be attached to the slabs with proper masonry screws or a drill.
Gravel Boards
Next up on our list are gravel boards. Similar to fence posts, gravel boards can be made from both concrete and wooden materials. Both are equally effective, just like before.
Gravel boards are used to protect the bottom of fence panels against moisture. Fence panels are more susceptible to fungal decay and premature rot if they don't have gravel boards. A fence run can also be added a bit higher to increase security and privacy.
